Skilled General Operative / Groundworker

Location: Killarney, Co. Kerry
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Long-term / Ongoing

 

Sherlock Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Skilled General Operative / Groundworker for a construction project in Killarney.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking candidate with previous groundworks experience, particularly in drainage, pipe laying and general civil engineering activities.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting groundworkers with underground drainage and pipe laying.

  • Installing and positioning concrete and plastic drainage pipes.

  • Assisting with the installation of manholes and inspection chambers.

  • Mixing and pouring concrete for manhole bases and surrounds.

  • Using a Kango breaker to break out concrete, kerbs and hardstanding.

  • Assisting with excavation and trench preparation.

  • Bedding, levelling and connecting drainage pipes.

  • Backfilling and compacting trenches using a whacker plate.

  • Installing ducting for electrical and utility services.

  • Assisting with kerbs, gullies and drainage channels.

  • Shovelling and moving soil, stone and hardcore.

  • Loading and unloading materials and keeping the site clean and tidy.

 

Requirements

  • Valid Safe Pass.

  • Valid Manual Handling certificate.

  • Previous experience in groundworks or civil engineering.

  • Experience with drainage and pipe laying is highly desirable.

  • Ability to use basic construction tools and equipment.

  • Good work ethic and ability to work as part of a team.

  • Reliable with a strong commitment to site safety.
